CCD (Chacha ki Chai Dukan)

Kolkata more popularly known as “The City of Joy” is known for its Sporting Spirit, Food and many more but the thing that tops it all is “Parer Morer Adda” (Street Gossip). And near every such adda’s one will see a CCD. CCD’s at every street corner? The writer has surely gone mad you might think but read on.

Well its the talk about CCD (Chacha Ki Chai Dukan)... what did you think when i said CCD? Cafe Coffee Day? You are not wrong as Cafe Coffee Day is now springing up at every youth hotspots and with it people are now flying in to CCD at the smallest of occasions to celebrate. But is it really killing the local CCD (Chacha ki Chai Dukans?)

We did a bit of investigation to see if there is any truth behind it. What we really saw came to us as no shock. The CCD’s took a major beating to local CCD’s but at the end of the day CCD bring in the money thanks to its systematic business model. So to judge the public opinion went on to ask to a few people on what they would prefer here are just a few quotes.

· Monika, Hotel Manager, said” Local Chai Dukans trust their customers more and don’t make them fall in embarrassing situations”

· Juhee, a college student , said “May be the sources of smile and laughter are different, the places are different, but the sweetness is always the same and equal that comes out from that smile”

· Vikash, another college going student , said “Local CCD (Chacha ki Chai Dukan) it’s much more tastier and cheap”

· While an office goer by the name Karan said that “Local Chai dukans are available everywhere so we can easily go when we want but such is not possible as we need to travel a lot find a Cafe Coffee Day shop”.

· Pratik, an Entrepreneur said that “Cafe Coffee Day is a great place to hold informal business meetings “

Well opinions vary for people of different age groups but majority of Indian still feel a major connect with local CCD (Chacha ki Chai Dukan) rather than the sophisticated Cafe Coffee Day with one of the major reason being it price and availability everywhere. Before the end of this write up lets talk about a small little poem which best describes the feeling of drinking chai.

A mug of hot coffee,

A sip of hot chai,

The mood of masti,

And all friends smile...

After all one drinks chai for the feel and refreshment from serious work as “Parar morer Chai er Dokan”(Tea Stall at the Street Corner) and “Parar morer Adda” go Hand in Hand.

Doesn’t matter how heavy our pocket is, or, rather than checking out big restaurant the taste of kollkata still lies in street foods. We have cafe coffee day but still “CCD – Chacha ki Chai Dukan” Rocks.
