“Six!!!”; “Indiaaaa…Indiaa”; “KKR…KKR…”; these sound better at the Eden Gardens which is 3rd biggest international cricket ground over the world. It’s located in BBD Bag area, Kolkata.
Eden Gardens is the Kolkata’s heritage, it was founded in 1864. Now it holds 66,349 audience following renovation for the Cricket World Cup 2011. During 1987 World Cup Cricket Tournament, seating capacity was said to be approximately 1,20,000; though no official figures have been recorded. It’s the home of the Bengal Cricket team and Kolkata Knight Riders.
First I visited at the Eden Gardens in 2010 to see the IPL T-20, I discovered that a huge crowd is ready for a battle against of their opponent. That was the match between KKR and K11P. Most of the people ware supporting to KKR for Sourav Ganguly and SRK.
Bengalis are huge cricket fan and that’s why the Eden Gardens always attracts maximum audience for any kind of match. Sometimes only the luckiest people get the chance to buy the ticket. The ticket rate varies on the tournament. Though it so expensive but audience don’t care of it.
During game play supporters become too much excited and aggressive. DJ music and the cheer leaders recharge them up between the gaps. Eden Garden carries the History of World Cricket. It is witnessed about some memorable incidents and events such as Mushtaq Ali incident, 80’s Derby Tragedy, 87’s World Cup Final, 99’s Sachin’s run out tragedy, 91’s Kapil Dev’s hat-trick against Srilanka and so on. And last time it hosted the 199th test match (penultimate) of Sachin Tendulkar's career against West Indies from 6-10 Nov 2013.

After all I’d like to say that if you want to discover what the Cricket is, you must visit the Eden Gardens for a time. You’ll never be disappointed when the crowd will be shouting the ‘Come on India’ or ‘KKR.’ That will be your awesome experience. That is why it has been called “Cricket’s answer to the Colosseum.”
