When people talk about street food, one cannot forget mentioning Kolkata. It is the “city of joy” which not only highlights on its culture and tradition but also on its food, the best place to be. The city of joy has hundreds of street snacks to offer. A variety of gastronomic delights are available on the streets of capital city. Kolkatan’s ranging from daily wage labourers to MNC executives prefer having road-side delicacies. Many of the passers by crossing through the street stalls, stop there to take pleasure trying out road-side foods at first sight. Mouth-watery food stuffs are in spite very attractive to look at as it is served well.

Panipuri are hollow crisp balls made from dough, and filled with a spicy concoction of water and potatoes, topped by sweet tamarind or spicy chutney.
Biryani is a rice-based dish made with spices, rice (usually basmati) and chicken, mutton, fish, eggs, or vegetables. It also uses cinnamon, mace along with cloves in the yoghurt based marinade for the meat. It is is very aromatic and delicious to eat.
Papri chaat, is basically, a north Indian fast food which is very famous in Kolkata city. In papri chaat, papris are the fried crispy dough wafers made from white flour and oil.
Kathi roll is a street food found in Kolkata street stalls in various localities. Kathi roll is a kathi kabab wrapped in a layer of paratha.
Pakoras are all time favourite snack in Kolkata . It is made from vegetables comprising of onion, cauliflower, potatoes, which is dipped in the besan (gram flour) batter and deep fried.
Masala chai is black tea brewed with spices and milk. It is found in each and every corner of Kolkata. An aromatic flavour from the chai gives a soothing effect, very hard to resist.
Beguni is a Bengali snack made of brinjal slices, dipped into the besan batter with salt and turmeric and deep fried. It is a popular snack available in Kolkata street stalls.
Pav bhaji consists of pav means bread and bhaji ( a thick potato based curry) garnished with coriander, chopped onion and lemon. The pav is buttered on all sides.
Momo is a kind of dumpling found in every nook and corner of the city.
